South Africa Goes World Cup Crazy

Forget the Macarena and the Moonwalk. South Africa's own Diski Dance looks set to get the world jiving to an African rhythm when the football World Cup arrives on the continent for the first time.  With just a few weeks until the 2010 FIFA World Cup kicks off, soccer fever has gripped South Africa as well as the African continent.

To coincide with this momentous event for South Africa, TCSJOHNHUXLEY commenced a marketing campaign back in January 2010 in the form of customised layouts and commemorative chips. Working closely alongside the various casinos’ marketing departments, as well as adhering to FIFA’s strict marketing guidelines, TCSJOHNHUXLEY’s design team have created a unique range of bespoke designs for their customers.

Managing Director TCSJOHNHUXLEY Africa comments, “With so many overseas visitors expected, it is fantastic to see that the entire Continent is gearing up for the big event, in particular the casino & hotel complexes. This time of year usually sees our layout department manufacturing around 250 layouts a month. The overwhelming response to our marketing drive has seen our production increase to well over 700 pieces per month. “What an achievement – over 300% increase!”

In addition to layouts, TCSJOHNHUXLEY has also produced commemorative souvenir chips for Emperors Palace Casino in Johannesburg, which displays the new world-class stadia, purpose built for the World Cup - A stunning memento and keepsake for the casino’s customers.  

Along with the rest of the country, many casinos have been embracing the build up to the championships by adopting the initiative set up by South African government. Football Friday aims to encourage South Africans to wear the national football team shirt every Friday until the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and has been a great success.
