An Asian Twist to Blackjack

In Chinese culture Dragons and Tigers have always been eternal rivals, now that rivalry comes to the table in Dragon 21. Dragon 21 is played one hand against another. Players have the option to bet on either the Tiger or the Dragon at the beginning of each game.

Bet Types

There are three types of bets available to players:

  • TIGER: Players are betting that the Tiger Blackjack hand will be closer to 21 than the Dragon Blackjack hand.
  • DRAGON: Players are betting that the Dragon Blackjack hand will be closer to 21 than the Tiger Blackjack hand.
  • TIE: Players are betting that both the Tiger and the Dragon Blackjack hand will be of the same value.

Game Play

If both the Tiger and the Dragon hand exceeds 21, the hand that is closest to 21 will win. Any winning hand with a total of 17 is a push.

If one total is over 21 and one hand is lower than 21, the hand that did not exceed 21 will win regardless of how close to 21 it is.

Example: 22 for Dragon vs 18 for Tiger - Tiger bet wins

If both totals are 21 or less (17, 18, 19, 20 or 21), the total that is closest to 21 will win. If both totals are the same, then it is a TIE and all bets on Tiger and Dragon will be a standoff/tie.

Dragon 21 can be spread as either a low limit game (>$100 bet) or as a premium offering (<$100 bet). In the low limit variation, all cards will be dealt face up by the dealer and players are not permitted to touch the cards.

The premium version features more ritualistic gameplay where players are allowed to touch (squeeze) cards.
